The Sweets Convent!!!

Today I went to a convent that supports itself through the sale of confections. The nuns are cloistered and do not have any contact with the outside world. I had no clue what to expect... But figured there would be a flock of tourists at this place. Not so. I was the only one there and actually had to be buzzed in via intercom. Once inside, as the video below will show, I walked down a darkened hallway to the LAZY SUSAN the nuns use to sell the items!!! Since they are permitted no contact with the outside world, they use the Susan to prevent seeing or touching you. The prices are listed to the side, as you will see, but the nun on the other side of the wall informed me that today there were only two choices - two different cookie recipes. I asked her to recommend her favorite, but her response was, basically, "That is not possible, because everyone has his or her own unique tastes." I ended up going with the lemon and sherry cookies. I was not disappointed!! Overall, a very interesting experience! ...and expensive. :). I didn't mind paying a lot to support an ancient way of life, but still, eight euros for a box of cookies? They were homemade, however, and quite good..... :)

Enjoy the vid. And yes, I did end up working my way through most of the box!!
